Empire State Barley and Malt Summit

December 12 - December 13, 2018

The event will kick off Wednesday, December 12th, with updates from government, economic educators, and hops, malting, and brewing sectors. The day will be capped with a tasting, featuring several breweries and distilleries pouring samples of craft beer and spirits which highlight the use of New York State grown hops, barley, and grains as well as a NYS-inspired buffet dinner. Day two will feature a keynote by Christopher Shepard, Senior Editor of Craft Brew News, and a series of educational sessions featuring researchers, extension specialists and industry experts, as well as ample networking opportunities. The full program agenda is now available!

Christopher Shepard is a Senior Editor of Craft Brew News, the craft-focused newsletter from Beer Marketer's INSIGHTS. He joined BMI in the summer of 2010, when the company launched CBN and has spent much of his time devoted to the publication since day one. Assistant to his father, Eric, on BMI's Alcohol Issues INSIGHTS publication helped lead to Chris' interest in state-based legislative issues and other alcohol policy matters. Chris graduated from Muhlenberg College in 2007, studying theatre, dance and English. He lives in Suffern, NY with his husband John, teaches dance in North Jersey and enjoys hiking and playing board games.
