Host

South Central New York Dairy & Field Crops

Your Extension Specialists will be chipping corn stalks and checking dry matters to target corn silage harvest timing.

Ears should be dented and showing a milk-line. Select and cut 4 representative stalks from the fields you would like to check. Go into the field past the headlands to get a reliable sample. Do not sample from the headlands. Label the stalks w/ the field name.

We are collaborating with Tully Ag Center and John Winchell, Territory Sales Representative with ALLTECH. Dry matters will be determined using NIR, which allows a short turn-around time. Masks will need to be worn at the mill, as well as 6 feet of social distancing.

This is a free event.
