This event is focused on no-till cover cropping strategies. Dr. Erik Smith, regional field crop specialist for CNYDLFC, will lead a farmer-to-farmer discussion on soil health and the benefits of cover crops. There will also be a display and demonstration of the farm's no-till drill, and a tour of several fields where the interseeding strategy was used.
Lunch will be provided and attendance is free, but pre-registration is required so organizers can contact attendees if a change of date or schedule is needed due to inclement weather, etc. All applicable covid-19 precautions will be followed. To register and for more information, please contact John VanDerwerken at the SWCD (518-853-7013 or john.vanderwerken@ny.nacdnet.net). Registration deadline is August 30th.
The Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) and Cornell Cooperative Extension's Central NY Dairy, Livestock, and Field Crops team (CNYDLFC) are hosting this event.
