**CANCELLED**Beef Quality Assurance Training

July 30, 2018

Beef producers are invited to attend a classroom session and chute-side workshop on Monday, July 30th, 2018 at 6 p.m. at 477 County Rd. 11 in Oneonta. Cornell University Beef Specialist Dr. Mike Baker and Dr. Bill Johnson, owner and lead veterinarian at Leatherstocking Veterinarian Services, will discuss vaccinations and health management in beef cattle. The chute-side workshop will offer demonstration and practice of proper sub-cutaneous injections. Participants will become eligible for "BQA" certification. Maidens are hosting the event.

The cost is $15 per person which includes BQA materials. Pre-registration is required by calling Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) at 315-866-7920 or by e-mailing herkimer@cornell.edu. Pizza, cold drinks, and dessert will be served at 6 p.m. when the classroom session begins.

The national Beef Quality Assurance Program plays an important role in educating producers on best management practices and assuring consumer trust in high quality and safe beef that is produced in the United States. This BQA meeting is sponsored by the Central New York Beef Producers in conjunction with the New York Beef Producers Association.

An additional goal is bringing its members into compliance to build confidence in buyers who are looking for high quality and well-managed calves at the fall and Calf Pool Sales. As beef production continues to evolve in Central NY, Cornell Cooperative Extension is working to assist regional beef producers to improve profitability and optimize their cattle growth. The Central NY Beef producers will be conducting a tele-auction in October, 2018. Additional calves that meet the quality, weaning, management, and health protocols are still being sought. Contact CCE Otsego and Schoharie Counties for more information.

Register by calling CCE Herkimer at (315) 866-7920 or emailing herkimer@cornell.edu or online at the above link or fill out the form in the attached pdf and mail it with your check to CCE Herkimer.

Note: When registering online, your transaction may take up to 60 seconds to complete. To help avoid duplicate payments, please wait and do not click the "Register for Event" button more than once.
