Hands-On Cheese Class with Thomas Pinello
February 3, 2015Brandon Brown from Trinity Valley will talk about the quality of the milk that they bottle on the farm, and Cheesemaker Thomas Pinello will teach you everything you need to know to make delicious cheese at home. Participants will receive information on a variety of topics including; an introduction to making cheese, food safety, and the basics of different types of milk. This is a hands-on workshop; we will break up in to teams of two and each team will make a batch of cheese during the workshop.
Farmer's Cheese is a great beginner's project or a quick venture for the busy cheesemaker. This un-aged, ready to eat, white cheese is mild and has a flavor reminiscent of creamy cottage cheese. It is firm enough for slicing, yet soft enough for spreading making it a versatile product for fillings, covering in herbs, serving with smoked meats, or simply served with bread or salad.
We will provide all materials required to make the cheese curds as well as enough materials so that each person can make the cheese again at home. We may ask for volunteers to bring a pot and a colander for the team's cheese production.
