2021 Aurora Farm Field Day

The 2021 Cornell Field Crops annual field day will be held August 12th highlighting the latest field crops research across CALS and providing an opportunity for in-person exchange of ideas and experiences. This year's program offers a wide variety of content from no-till planting into rolled cover crops to the use of unoccupied robotic vehicles to monitor plant growth and health.

  • Shawn Bossard - Cornell Agricultural Experiment Station Overview and Field Crop Project Highlights
  • Niko Kochendoerfer - Managing photovoltaic solar arrays with sheep to optimize pollinator habitat, vegetation biodiversity, and soil carbon
  • Virginia Moore - Variety selection for cover crop interseeding
  • Rebecca Nelson and Ace Repka - Genetics of disease resistance in maize and the recovery of nutrients from sanitation to agriculture
  • Kelly Robbins - Modeling plant growth and development using proximal sensing technologies
  • Matt Ryan, Annika Rowland, Jake Allen, Uri Menalled, Chris Pelzer - No-till planting into rolled cover crops
  • Lynn Sosnoski - Identifying amaranths to improve weed control
  • Ken Wise, Xiaohong Wong, Karen Snover-Clift, and Gary Bergstrom - Soybean cyst nematode in New York: What a grower should know and do

Registration is free but is limited to 115 people and is required by Monday, August 2nd. A box lunch with water will be provided. Register Online

NYS DEC Pesticide Recertification Credits (Demonstration, Agricultural Plant, and Field and Forage - 1.50 credits each) and CCA credits will be offered.

Check-in begins at 9:15 AM. Please plan to bring your own coffee and breakfast. COVID-19 guidelines at the time of the event will be followed. If you need any physical accommodations, please email jnt3@cornell.edu in advance.
