Successful Farming for Beginners

Feeds and Feeding Management Course

This is a great course for both new feeders and those with years of experience. Participants will receive excellent instruction on meeting cows' nutrition needs from speakers such as Dr. Larry Chase and get lots of hands on experience in assessing feed quality.

Cover Cropping for Soil Health, Nutrient Management and Water Quality

This cover crop workshop features speakers from Cornell and Penn. State University, Pennsylvania No-till Alliance, USDA NRCS, Western NY Crop Management Association, local Farmers, and the Upper Susquehanna Coalition. Discussion and demonstrations of no-till and zone-till equipment and lessons learned on how to successfully use this equipment, will be conducted by a farmer panel and equipment dealers. A field tour of our cover crop demonstration plantings will be given in the morning which includes: time of seeding of several species and diverse cover crop mixes, over several dates.
